Board of Review Meetings

Description

The purpose of the Board of Review is to hear property valuation appeals and correct any errors. The board also hears requests for property tax exemptions.

Meetings Schedule

The Board of Review meets at the Township Hall three times a year as mandated by the state – for the meeting dates and times, see below as well as the Assessment Change Notice.

  • March Board of Review – This is the only time of year that a property owner may appeal the valuation of a property. One must appeal to the March Board of Review in order to further appeal to the Michigan Tax Tribunal (MTT). To make an appeal to the Board of Review, and for other property tax information, see the Assessor's Page.

For questions or to schedule an appointment for appeal, please contact our Assessor, Jill Brown at 231-881-4000 or via email.

The 2025 March Board of Review meetings will be held virtually and by appointment only on:

    • Monday, March 10, 2025 from 3 PM to 9 PM
    • Tuesday, March 11, 2025 from 9 AM to 3 PM

Petitions must be received no later than 5 PM on Friday, March 7, 2025.

Written appeals must be sent to Township Assessing, 1196 Ranger Drive, Gladwin, MI 48624 and must be received no later than 5 PM on March 7, 2025.

Information will also be posted at the township hall at least 18 hours in advance of the meetings.  Assessment records are reviewed annually and property visits are continuous. However, not all properties are visited each year.  To opt out of site visits please send a letter of intent to our Assessor, Jill Brown

  • July Board of Review – This meeting is strictly for mutual mistakes, clerical errors, and exemption appeals. No valuation appeals are allowed at this time. Meets on the Tuesday following the third Monday.
