Township Board Meetings
The township board meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 pm at the
Benzonia Township Hall. If that falls on a holiday or conflicting date, then the
meeting is held at the same time and place on a date to be determined by a vote of
the township board.

West Benzie Joint Planning
Commission (WBJPC) Meetings
The West Benzie (Benzonia and Platte Townships) Joint Planning Commission meets
on the first Thursday of even months at the Benzonia Township Hall at 7 PM.

Board of Review Meetings
The purpose of the Board of Review is to hear property valuation appeals and correct
any errors. The board also hears requests for property tax exemptions.
The Board of Review meets at the Township Hall three times a year as mandated
by the state – for the meeting dates and times, see below as well as the Assessment
- March Board of Review – This is the only time of year that a property
owner may appeal the valuation of a property. One must appeal to the March
Board of Review in order to further appeal to the Michigan Tax Tribunal (MTT). To
make an appeal to the Board of Review, and for other property tax information, see
the Assessor's Page. Meets during the week of second
Monday of March. For 2018, the meetings are
- March 6, 2018 at 1:00 PM — organizational meeting
- March 12, 2018 from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM — board of review meeting
- March 13, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM — board of review meeting
- July Board of Review – This meeting is strictly for mutual mistakes, clerical
errors, and exemption appeals. No valuation appeals are allowed at this time. Meets
on the Tuesday following the third Monday.
- December Board of Review – This meeting is strictly for mutual mistakes,
clerical errors, and exemption appeals. No valuation appeals are allowed at this
time. Meets on the Tuesday following the second Monday.
Parks Committee Meetings
The Memorial Park Committee is made up of volunteers who suggest improvements
and items of repair and maintenance to the Township Board. Currently there are two
board members that sit on this committee along with several volunteers from the community.
Donations are kept in a fund designated to the improvement of our lovely park.
